The Workshop with National Education Coalitions (NECS) in the Africa Region wrapped up its sessions today in Johannesburg, South Africa. 🌍✨

Brought together by the Global Campaign for Education (GCE), a powerhouse civil society movement dedicated to breaking down barriers in education, this strategic gathering ran from the 12th to the 14th of December 2023. 📚🌐

At the heart of the workshop was a mission to craft a robust action plan for engaging with the African Union (AU) and its Regional Economic Communities (RECs). The blueprint drew inspiration from a meticulously curated report commissioned by the GCE. 📊🤝

As the AU Year of Education 2024 looms on the horizon, the workshop delved into crucial topics:

•  A sweeping overview of the educational landscape in Africa.
•  Unpacking the significance of engaging with AU & CESA.
•  Navigating the AU & RECs report and charting pathways for application.
•  Advocating for education through the AU’s ESTI – Promoting Education in Africa.
•  Aligning strategies with the Continental Education Strategy for Africa (CESA).
• Engaging with the EdTech Campaign.
• Exploring the intricacies of the UN Tax Convention and its implications on Education

SAf-CNGO got the opportunity to share its vision for a more united civil society in Southern Africa, and further pledged to champion the goals outlined in the action plan for the coming year. 👥🤝

Culminating with a flourish, the workshop unveiled and launched the GCE report, “African Civil Society Education Groups,” as well as the UN Tax Convention Campaign. 🚀💼

Key participants included the National Coalitions, funded by Education Out Loud (EOL). 🌐💡

In the spirit of shared purpose, this workshop not only forged strategies but ignited a beacon of collaboration that promises a brighter educational future for the Southern African region as well as the African continent. 🌟🎓
